The washboard bumps were really extensive (there was more washboard than there were smooth sections) plus pockets of loose sand — felt especially treacherous on the downhill. After two miles of constant washboard I turned around.

If you are in this neighborhood, you might be tempted to take Miramonte Road between Gross Reservoir and highway 72. Unfortunately that way is blocked with a locked gate, fence, and "no trespassing" signs.
